NO CLUB LUNCH in SEPTEMBER

October lunch will feature
a tribute to Xalbador and a sing-along.       

SUCCESSFUL 50th ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND
FOR THE CHINO BASQUE CLUB

The weekend started out with a parade of klika members from Aldude and California  as well as California dancers.  
The parade was led by a 1947 Ford driven by Andréa Bidart-Oteiza chauffeuring the  Club’s President and Vice President, JB Aguerre and Isidore Camou, distinguished by their cowboy hat and boneta respectively.

The Pantxoa Carrere concert was well-received after a delicious dinner prepared by Steve Gamboa, et.al.  It was a wonderful start to a great celebration.

The picnic began with Besta Berri at mass officiated by Father Egiguren from Boise, ID.
According to the Chino Champion over 1,000 people attended.

Winners of the Raffle were as follows:

1st Place, $1000:  Carmen Martinez
2nd Place, $750:  Anthony Echeverria
3rd Place, $500:  Jean Louis Etcheverry
4th Place, $300:  Eric Reidman
5th Place, $250:  Jeff Parker
6th Place, $100:  Danielle Echeverria

Dancing for all was provided by Ibarla Taldea from the Basque Country.

GAUDEN BAT CELEBRATES PICNIC IN COLORADO

Gauden Bat performed at the Euskal Etxea club in Denver on September 8.  Attending dancers are grouped with club president, Mayi Petracek, formerly of Chino.

Top Left:  Asier de Luz & Riley Anema won against Bakersfield in pala.

Bottom Left: Jacob Sealy & Niko Calderon defeated Jackson Anema & Angeru de Luz.

Right:  Peio Arrachea & Xanti Oteiza won their game for Junior Pilota.

Mike Aphessetche (pictured on the right) and his partner Francisco Mancilla
defeated San Francisco for the Class A championship in pilota.

Denis Petrissans & Jacob Jaureguy won 2nd Place in Class B pilota.

CARMELO URZA SCHOLARSHIP

A $2,000 scholarship is available for students attending the USAC (University Studies Abroad Consortium) in Bilbao or San Sebastian.
