The deadline to apply is fast approaching for Ateak Ireki. This is a great opportunity for young Basques (ages 16 to 25) to live, learn and experience life in the Basque Country. This program is set for June 25th through July 16th and will be in Goierri Valley of Guipuzkoa.
DAUGHTER OF CBC MEMBER WINS BEO SCHOLARSHIP
Maialen Petrissans, daughter of CBC member, Cathy Petrissans, won a scholarship from the Basque Educational Organization (BEO). Maialen’s entry was a ceramic piece that symbolizes the resiliency of the Basque people depicting the tree of Gernika and its outlying reach.

VISIT TO EUZKO ETXEA CLUB IN NYC
CBC board members visited the Euzko Etxea in Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday, December 11th.
President Elisa Vidasolo Anocona graciously invited JP & Linda Iriart and Marianna Etcheverria to their scheduled board meeting and then showed them their historic site. The Club has been in existence since 1913 and is the oldest Basque Club in North America.
CBC MEMBERS RUN MARATHON
Brother & sister, Alain and Louise Camou, ran in the 50th Anniversary of the Honolulu Marathon on December 11th, 2022. Congratulations!

CBC PARTNERING WITH FIRE DEPARTMENT TOY DRIVE
This year the Chino Basque Club is helping our county fire department collect and distribute new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment for underserved children and teens. We will be collecting items at the Club lunches. Please consider the age group 10 to 16 as this drive rarely seems to get enough donations for this particular age group.
Help us make these children’s Christmas just a little bit better.

NABO PALA FINALS IN BOISE, ID
This year the NABO Pala Finals will be in Boise, Idaho on Saturday, November 19th. Events will include Men’s Class A and B as well as women and youth categories. Anyone can show to play — no team needed. There will also be handball games.

BASQUES RUN BOSTON MARATHON
Louise Camou, CBC Boardmember, and Amelie Tristant, Club member JB Tristant’s daughter, ran the Boston Marathon on April 18, 2022.
To run this marathon (26.2 miles) one needs to have a qualifying race behind them.
Both ladies ran in record speed and were happy to share their experience at Club member Jackie Ramirez’ wedding on April 30th.
May Club Lunch – A Tribute to Mothers
The Chino Basque Club will be honoring mothers at the next club lunch on Sunday, May 15th.
Doors open at 12:00 noon; lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m.
Cost is $25 for adults, $10 for children.
