Sunday Club Lunch: Bertsolaris, Song & Halloween Fun!
Sunday, October 25th at 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of Xalbador, the beloved shepherd and bertsolari (Fernando Aire Etxart, 1920-1976), whose verses made him one of the most cherished voices in Basque poetry. Join us at the Chino Basque Club for a Sunday lunch honoring his memory.
Our guests carry his legacy forward. The bertsolaris will raise their improvised verses in his honor, and the Aire Ahizpak, three sisters who are Xalbador’s own granddaughters, will sing. It’s a rare chance to hear the tradition remembered by the family that keeps it alive.
Little ones are welcome to come in costume! Kids can enjoy Halloween crafts and dress-up fun while the grown-ups enjoy the afternoon.
On the menu: appetizers, including our famous croquetas, followed by lamb chops and chicken.
